I have been involved in radio for many years and seeing a new potential in the radio market - I decided to set up a radio station for the communities of south Hertfordshire by providing occasional local programming for this community and creating a fan base for offshore radio interests. I feel this part of the UK has been deprived of a specialist music station over the years and I will endeavour to make SHR different in terms of programming by offering an alternative music format as well as promoting some of the best radio related material for the real radio enthusiast.

We have volunteers with shared interests in what we are trying to do dedicating their free time by making programmes for us with content and information targeting the areas we serve. SHR offers an alternative radio option for presenters who are unable to make a break on the bigger mainstream stations. Apart from streaming our shows across the internet and over the radio, we make previously broadcast material available to download, playback or listen on demand giving people the chance to listen again for promotions, advertisements, local services and great music. This station is privately funded with a small amount of advertising for promotional purposes. Our intended audience demographic is the 25 - 75 year age group but anyone is welcome. Specialist programming is also on offer with themed shows for specific audiences.
